I can't tell you how many useless baby gifts we have received over the years from well-meaning friends and family; well, I COULD tell you, but you wouldn't care to listen. The most difficult part of any baby shower for me is going home and sorting through everything, trying to figure out what is actually safe to keep.
And then of course, I start to consider how much money was not only wasted on purchasing unsafe products for my baby, but adding up in my head all of the useless products purchased for all babies every year in the name of good intentions. Those billions of dollars spent annually, just a dollar here and there, on cheap plastic toys filled with cancer-causing chemicals, clothing doused in toxic flame retardants, and enough estrogen mimicking ingredients in typical baby bath products to make them grow their own breasts at birth (regardless of gender). And so, as a parent, I'm here to ask you, pretty much BEG of you, to please look into the products you are buying, whether for yourself or as a gift. Ensure you are giving only the gift you intend; not the toxic byproducts and diseases of so many products sitting on the shelves. Even though it may seemingly cost more upfront, it's a better value for several reasons:
